How Starting a Failure Contest Makes You More Successful

Is it okay to fail?

I mean, I’m not asking whether it’s acceptable or not. I’m asking if it’s 100% okay – if it’s a good thing…

If you’re like most of us, you’ll say “no,” of course it’s not okay. We want to win. We want to conquer the world (!), right?

Unfortunately, no story about winning goes without a significant part about losing. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what a little known basketball player from Brooklyn, New York has to say:

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” -Michael Jordan

There’s a lot of things we can learn from Michael, but this time let’s just focus on winning, and building a winner’s mindset.

The concept I want to introduce is called the “failure contest.” It’s based on the idea of pursuing failure and actually embracing it. To find out what I’m on about, check out my guest post at StevenAitchison.co.uk:

Now, what failure contest are you going to start in the near future?
